Stealing

I'm stealing this idea from my friend Sara. Every month she writes her darling little girl a little "love letter". It's so cute, great for her to look back on, and really captures what has happened in the month. Great idea Sara, hope you don't mind. I also recently heard that Jason's grandma is having a hard time sleeping during the nights. While she's up she writes Ed, her husband, LOVE LETTERS, so this is for both Jason and Riehl!

Dear Riehl (and some to daddy),

WOW, you are already 5 weeks old! We've heard every single adult for 29 years tell us how time flies, but now that you are here I can finally believe them. It's just so hard to believe that it's been 5 weeks that you made mommy and daddy the most proud parents ever (a little bias here, we know).

You arrived into this world weighing 7lbs. 3 oz. and almost 21 inches long. We thought you were absolutely perfect!!! Mommy really couldn't stand to be stuck in the hospital (my lovely anxiety) so they released us after 24 hours of life! During the few days after your birth, we had home nurses come visit. You were dropping weight a bit (down to 6lbs.6oz.) and it made mommy very nervous and sad. We had lots of visitors in our just under 1,000 sq. ft. house, so mommy was really stressed causing her milk not to come in. Daddy had to take care of mommy because she was so emotional and needed to focus on her new little man. Even through all of this, you were so strong and happy. You quickly gained your weight back. At your 2 week appointment you were 8lbs. 2oz.!!! Way to go little dude! We won't talk much about your circumcision...but needless to say the plasti-bell (SP) had to be cut off and it made mommy cry to see you so upset. Let's not have any more tears like that again! Daddy's turn next time.

We've done SO much together already! You are such a champ and will be the next crossfit baby for sure! Since day 5 of life, you've been going to the gym with mommy, sleeping in your car-seat or looking at me like I'm crazy! I don't think you'll be a runner, but you are going to love being at a gym. Maybe you can be a yoga instructor and wear LULULEMON capri pants like your dad:) You've been on hikes, gone to Target a million times, Safeway, Babies-R-Us, DO your Brew, Wash Park, City Park...the list goes on! You are a perfect angel traveling and venturing all over Denver with mommy. Maybe you'll be a world traveler???

You are sleeping so well. You seem to love your crib and sleep in that every night! Although, during the day your favorite place is mommy's arms, which I LOVE! (but need to break sadly) You have begun to laugh and it is the sweetest thing in the world to hear. Your smiles light up mommy and daddy's face. Daddy gets picture messages of you daily so he can watch you grow from work. All this sleeping is paying off because you are growing like a weed! Daddy weighed you the other day and you are almost 11 lbs! Mommy sadly had to pack up all your newborn cloths and even the 0-3 months and give them to Jillian because you just don't fit into them anymore. How is this possible? I love your little chubby cheeks and your old man hair line! Daddy gets the biggest kick out of your gas. You must take after your grandpa Risner :) You do seem to have a lot and so adult like. This is one of daddy's favorite parts so far!

Some how we just can't get enough of you. It's amazing how you have changed our lives for the better. You have made us so proud and we love you so much! We can't imagine our lives without you in it. You are perfect in every way and we just don't know how in the world you are ours. Seeing you now makes me want to go back to being pregnant knowing that it was YOU that was growing inside me. We love to watch you and just smile in amazement. We kiss you ALL the time, knowing that someday you won't let us do that. Your cries are becoming very distinguished. We definitely know what you want! You are a great eater and mommy loves her little special time with you!

Daddy, you have been AWESOME! I love to watch you interact with Riehl. You are going to continue to be an amazing dad to Riehl and teach him how to be a gentleman. That's all mommy could ask for. He loves you more than you will ever realize. The way he looks at you makes my heart so happy. I know that you are working hard to make our lives together as a family incredible. We love you so much and cherish the weekends when we get to have you all to ourselves. You make us proud and if Riehl turns out to be half the man you are, the world better watch out because he'll be a catch! Thanks for all your help, support, and most of all your love for the both of us! You're the best Jason/daddy and we couldn't ask for more!

Love,
Mommy

Jen,
Your 'journaling' caused me to make a mad dash for the tissues! What a wonderful tradition for you, Riehl, and Jason.
We love all of you!
(Dad questioned the inherited trait!) :-)
Love,
Mom
